Ajax-Point Online Presentations
An Education Software Tool
VirtualMissions Provides A Free Online
Software For Conducting PowerPoint Style Presentations Through The Internet. By
Providing A Combination Of Synchronized Web Page Displays And The Audio Of Your Choice (Internet Radio,
Conference Calls, Instant Messenger etc.) Instructors Take Students On An Online
Guided Web Page Tour. This Ajax-Point Software Is Sort Of A New Communication Medium. It's Not
Quite Streaming Video But By Providing Synchronized Visual Web Pages With Accompanied Audio Through Conference Calls The Cost And Bandwidth Needed Is Drastically Cut. That Is A Big Plus When Trying To Get The Course To Users With Low Bandwidth.
VirtualMissions provides this software as a teaching tool to our volunteers.
Its operation is fairly easy - the instructor creates and saves the webpages they wish to use in their presentation. Any html page is fine, and even some other file types are usable.
The instructor then saves them to their own website or to assigned VirtualMission's folders.
At or before the lesson or presentation start time the instructor
directs participants to a "meeting" page (which code is provide by the Ajax-Point software). This meeting
page is coded to refresh to the first of those presentation web pages previously built and saved
by the instructor. As the instructor conducts the presentation, they use
a simple control panel (sort of like a "remote control by internet" to
enter their command to move to the next page when they wish. The command refreshes the current page for the viewers.
For all intent and purposes it functions as a powerpoint presentation with just a slight time lag among the viewers.
With practice, a user can build a ten page presentation in less than fifteen minutes
(not including the time building the pages).
